Thomas Andrew Daschle is a U.S. Senator and Senate Majority Leader from South Dakota who served four terms in the House of Representatives and became a part of the Democratic Party leadership. On November 19, 2008, Tom Daschle accepted President Obama's offer to be Secretary of the Health and Human Services Department. As part of President Obama’s administration, he also serves as the director of a newly formed White House Office of Health Reform.
